did you ever?

have you ever told someone something about yourself that you don't normally share? You know that thing that your family knows about you but you generally don't share with the people at work?

I kind of did that the other day. Shared my gnome fascination with this guy I work with. The best part though, he totally got into it. I told him about the Christmas cards I got last year with gnomes on the front and inside said "There's gnome place like home for the holidays". We spent a good 1/2 an hour that day coming up with other "gnome" phrases.

His Christmas card to me "it's been a pleasure 'gnoming' you." HIL-AR-IOUS!!! That boy cracks me up!

monday morning musings....

so I was able to accomplish much Christmas related activities this weekend. Got a tree, wrapped presents, mailed packages (unfortunately not all of them got mailed to the right place, but I did get them mailed). Also went to my friends party. I know going to a party doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but it kind of was for me.

I don't like situations where I don't know anyone, but everyone else knows each other. I'm not a good "socializer". Earlier I did think of some excuses to get out of going, but in the end decided to go. It was an interesting time. My friend and her sisters have this annual cookie competition. It was surprisingly intense. Lots of good food though.

some days things happen that you wish you could just ignore. but they remain just the same.

Yesterday went out to do some Christmas shopping. The only thing I ended up purchasing was something for me. Finally came home and decided to check my email. got one from my grandma. she found out she has cancer and will be undergoing surgery after the first of the year.

From the mouths of babes....

True story...

There is a knock on the door. She goes to answer it with the 3 year old right behind her. At the door are a couple of Mormons.

"We are hoping you'll be celebrating the real meaning of Christmas this year. Do you know what Christmas is?"

The three year old pipes up "I know! It's Jesus's birthday. I'm going to buy him a birthday present, but then we'll have to get an airplane or something to take it to him in heaven...."

As the child continued, the Mormons left know that at least one house knew the real celebration of Christmas.
